Tourist complex «Scythian Stan» (Scythian Camp)/ Skifsky Stan

At the beginning of the 20th century, there were 129 burial mounds from different historical eras on the island of Khortytsia. Up to this point, only 28 of them have been preserved. The mounds were located in several groups on the side of the road that once passed through Khortytsia in its middle, elevated part. At the end of 2005, the construction of the tourist-memorial complex “Scythian Stan” (“Zorova Mohyla”) began at the highest point of the island, offering a fantastic view.  There are currently 11 mounds on the territory, which extends approximately five hectares. They all have been restored, reconstructed, and stylized. The complex is complemented by a large-scale lapidary containing a collection of ancient stone works, including sculptures, stelae, crosses, millstones, threshing stones, and mortars. During the excursion, you will see preserved and restored burial mounds and hear the guide’s story about the Scythians, the masters of the steppes. Furthermore, we would like to bring to your attention a collection of stone works situated under the open sky, namely a lapidary. Here, the region’s history is embodied in stone idols, Cossack crosses, and the agricultural tools of our ancestors.
