MASTER CLASS ON “SAMCHYKIVKA PAINTING” WE INVITE CHILDREN AND ADULTS TO A NEW MASTER CLASS “SAMCHIKIVKA PAINTING”!

Samchykivka painting (or Samchykivka) is a type of Ukrainian decorative and applied art that originated in the village of Samchyki, Starokostyantynivskyi district, Khmelnytsky region at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century.

It is characterized by the motif of a curved feather, serrated leaves, petals, and the impression of carelessness in the curved lines of patterns, which are peculiar components of the artistic language of Samchykivka masters.

The central theme of this painting is plant motifs in their various interpretations. One of the most beloved and familiar ornaments is the image of a flower pot as a symbol of the universe, the “tree of life”. The color scheme of the Samchykivka painting also has a sacred meaning.

Our master Alyona Lystopad will introduce you to the technique of this unique painting and its history on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 12:00, in the historical and cultural complex “Zaporozhzhia Sich”.
