We invite Zaporizhzhia residents and visitors to attend a lecture: “ZAPOROZHZHIA COSSACKS AND UKRAINIAN STATEHOOD”.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. at the historical and cultural complex “Zaporozhzhia Sich” of the Khortytsia National Reserve.

Ukrainians celebrate Independence Day on August 24, which is the main holiday of the Nation.

Our national statehood was forged with the sabers of Zaporozhzhia Cossacks on the Dnipro rapids and the Khortytsia rocks. The formation of the Zaporozhzhia Lowland Army proved to the world that a new, distinctive Nation had emerged, becoming a full-fledged subject of international politics.

At the lecture, you will learn about the historical role and significance of the Zaporozhzhia Cossacks’ activities in forming Ukrainian statehood.
