“HEAR WITH THE EYES, SEE WITH THE HEART”

On October 25, 2024, the historical and cultural complex “Zaporozhzhia Sich” hosted the official presentation of the project “HEAR WITH THE EYES, SEE WITH THE HEART”, developed by specialists of the Khortytsia National Reserve: a video tour in Ukrainian sign language, directly in the museum objects, with access to this video by receiving a QR code.

The project aims to enable people with hearing impairments to get information about the main objects in sign language completely independently, i.e. without any external help, to explore, study, know and be proud of our history and culture.

The main participants of this presentation were representatives of the Zaporizhzhia regional organisation UTOH (Ukrainian Society of the Deaf), who were the first to appreciate our efforts to ensure accessibility for people with hearing disabilities.

Our project was tested and received a positive evaluation.

The experience gained will be used to create accessibility for people with hearing impairments to other objects of the reserve.

Creating a barrier-free environment where everyone feels comfortable remains one of the priority tasks solved by the Khortytsia National Reserve.
