INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND WORKSHOP “CULTURAL SECTOR OF UKRAINE DURING THE WAR: CHALLENGES – NEEDS – EVENTS”
On April 10-11, 2025 the International Conference and Workshop “Cultural Sector of Ukraine During the War: Challenges – Needs – Events” took place in the premises of the National Culture, Art and Museum Complex “Mystetskyi Arsenal (Art Arsenal)” and the Goethe-Institut in Ukraine, organized by the German non-profit organization Ukraine Art Aid Center (UAAC), the International Alliance for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Conflict Zones ALIPH Foundation (Geneva) and the Goethe-Institut in Ukraine, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
The conference focused on the main challenges facing the Ukrainian cultural sector in the fourth year of full-scale aggression by the Russian Federation.
The representatives of the Khortytsia National Reserve took part in the conference.
Halyna Hryhorenko, the First Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Stefan Rössel, the Commissioner for Culture at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany, and representatives of the EU and UNESCO delegations welcomed the participants of the event.
On the first day of the conference, a panel discussion “Retrospective and Forecasts” was held, and the work of 12 expert groups on topical issues of preserving the cultural heritage of Ukraine (museums, libraries, archives, music, literature, cinema, theater, etc.) in times of war began. The results of the experts’ work were presented at the plenary session.
