Khortytsia National Reserve has become a full member of the International Congress of Maritime Museums
The “Museum of Shipping” of the Khortytsia National Reserve is a unique collection of boats and anchors, the analogues of which do not exist in the world: Cossack boat, Dnipro double-boat, brigantine, baidak, dug-out boat, etc.; the collection of anchors includes about a hundred exhibits (the oldest of them date back to the 10th century). Leading European experts in navigation history have recognized the collected artifacts’ high historical value.
The results of the long-term work of the reserve in the research and preservation of the history of Cossack navigation, as well as the unique experience and methods of work of our hydro-archaeologists and restorers, have been highly appreciated at the international level. The Khortytsia National Reserve has joined the International Congress of Maritime Museums (ICMM).
REFERENCE: The International Congress of Maritime Museums (ICMM) has been operating for 53 years and has about 150 members from 36 countries. ICMM brings together maritime museum professionals for regular conferences, lectures, seminars, and discussions. ICMM provides museum services, including technical assistance in the preservation of ships and boats, opportunities for exchange of collections or personnel, temporary exhibitions, planning, research, educational programs, and procurement of materials for water conservation projects.
