A Cossack knight, military heroism, Sich democracy – these are the first things that come to the minds of many Ukrainians when they think about the Zaporozhzhia Cossacks. A particular part of the population has created a romantic-folkloric image of the Zaporozhians and their way of life, reproduced in mass culture for decades.

And what was the material culture of the Zaporozhians really like? How was the everyday life of the Cossacks organised? What did they wear and eat? What does historical science, which works with facts and not fiction, have to say about this?

We will give answers to this vital topic at the announced lecture that will take place on November 2, 2024 (Saturday) at 11:00 a.m. in the Museum Studios “The City Beyond the Rapids” at the address, Zaporizhzhia, Tsentralnyi Boulevard, 3 (2nd floor of the “House of Shoes”).
