On December 10-11, 2025, the 45th Regional Local History Conference for Student Youth, “Local History Essays of the Zaporizhzhia Region,” took place in Zaporizhzhia.
The sections focused on the following topics: “Natural Local History,” “Military and Historical Events in the Territory of the Zaporizhian Region: From Ancient Ages to the Present Day,” “The Zaporizhian Region and Independence,” and “Humanitarian Local History.”
Among the invited participants of the conference’s plenary session was our colleague, Tetyana Shelemetyeva, a senior research associate in the Department of Scientific Work and Archival Fonds at the Khortytsia National Reserve.
In her report, Tetyana Shelemetyeva discussed the reserve’s recent accomplishments in researching and preserving historical and cultural heritage, including expeditions conducted, expanded museum collections, and organized exhibitions. Tetyana Shelemetyeva was also honored to serve on the judging panel.
This student forum on the history of their region inspires optimism about the prospects for developing local history in Zaporizhzhia. Experienced specialists have someone to share their knowledge and experience with, and the participants’ work demonstrates their talent and deserves professional attention.
