SPRING BEAUTY OF KHORTYTSIA

Our national pearl – the Khortytsia Island – is dressed in spring clothes of primroses: beauty that heals the soul and gives joy!
The land of Khortytsia is a unique natural treasure that preserves samples of all Ukrainian landscape zones. It shelters 105 endemic species, 28 species of plants are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine, and 10 groups of plants are in the Green Book of Ukraine. It is not by chance that the whole nature of the island is under state protection.

Such rare plants as Tulipa quercetorum and Tulipa graniticola, Adonis vernalis, Bulbocodium versicolor, Pulsatilla pratensis, and Fritillaria ruthenica are already showing their flowers. Soon enough, European feather grass (Stipa pennata), green-winged orchid (Anacamptis morio) (in May-July), and Astragalus dasyanthus will show their beauty. And this is only the beginning of the Khortytsia flowering symphony!

Dear residents of Zaporizhzhia and guests of our city! We are glad to see you in the Khortytsia National Reserve, and we ask you to protect the island’s unique nature, to be careful when walking so as not to harm nature, and not to pick flowers, which is strictly forbidden in the reserve territory!

Admire and enjoy this symphony of beauty.
And above all – protect it!
