THE LECTURE “MATERIAL CULTURE OF THE ZAPOROZHZHIA COSSACKS: DWELLING, CLOTHING, FOOD CULTURE”

For many Ukrainians, the first things that come to mind when they think of the Zaporozhzhia Cossacks are the Cossack-knight, military exploits, and Sich democracy.

A particular part of the population has created a romantic and fairy-tale image of the Zaporozhians, reproduced in mass culture for decades.

But what was the life of the Cossacks really like? What did they wear and eat? What do we know of their material culture? What does historical science, which works with facts and not fiction, have to say about it?

The announced lecture will shed light on this important topic. The lecture will be held on July 13, 2024 (Saturday) at 11:00 in the Museum Studios “The City Beyond the Rapids” at the address, Zaporizhzhia, Tsentralnyi Boulevard, 3 (2nd floor of “The House of Shoes”).
