“UNDER THE PROTECTION OF THE MOTHER OF GOD”.

On October 1, 2024, a special event occurred in the historical and cultural complex “Zaporozhzhia Sich” of the Khortytsia National Reserve. The charity stamp “Under the Protection of the Mother of God”, dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine and the celebration of the Protection of the Holy Mother of God, patroness and protector of the Zaporozhzhia Cossacks and all Ukrainian soldiers, was officially introduced into circulation.

It is symbolic that the stamp redemption took place near the Mother of God Church. The event was organized by the Zaporizhzhia Directorate of Ukrposhta and was attended by its head, Yuliya Borovyk, the deputy head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration Volodymyr Cherednychenko, the management of the Khortytsia National Reserve, the commander of the military unit Colonel Artur Korshunov, the vice-president of the All-Ukrainian Federation “Spas” Kostyantyn Ryzhov.

Words of congratulation and gratitude to our defenders and wishes for victory over the enemy were the key in every speech. The participants noted the importance of this event as an educational campaign aimed at confirming our spiritual and cultural heritage and popularizing the Cossack history. At the same time, this stamp will also serve a good cause of charity.

STAMP INFORMATION

The stamp “Under the Protection of the Mother of God” was designed by the artist Oleksandr Okhapkin. It reflects the deep connection between the defenders of Ukraine and their intercessor – the Virgin Mary. The stamp depicts the Holy Mother of God embracing and protecting those defending Ukraine with her omophorion.

The number of copies of the stamp is 420,000. The denomination of the stamp is U (corresponds to the tariff for sending simple domestic letters without declared value up to 50 grams and postcards, equivalent to UAH 18.00 + UAH 5.00 (additional denomination intended for deduction for social (charitable) purposes). Number of stamps in sheets – 6. Circulation of the envelope “First Day” – 30,000 copies, folders – 500 copies. The creator of the “First Day” stamp and envelope is Oleksandr Okhapkin.

The stamps will be available from October 1 in post offices and on the postal market.
