VR Kolo: Museums United in Virtual Reality

The presentation of the VR Kolo project took place today at the Khortytsia National Reserve. It is the first virtual-reality network of museums in Ukraine, which combines cultural institutions from different regions into a single digital space.

Visitors can now take a virtual journey between Ukrainian museums in just a few seconds by simply putting on a VR helmet. The Khortytsia National Reserve, the National Architectural and Historical Reserve “Ancient Chernihiv,” the Okhtyrka City Museum of Local Lore, the Pryluky Museum of Local Lore, and the Dubno State Historical and Cultural Reserve are currently part of VR Kolo.

The Ukrainian Cultural Foundation supported the project in partnership with Forward Inc. and the Charitable Organization “Museum Development Fund.” The project aims to create a modern digital infrastructure that integrates culture, education, and technology to offer a new approach to preserving and popularizing cultural heritage.

Visitors can already take their first trips through a single museum space and see how exhibitions are filled with artifacts. The first stage of the project will present more than 120 digital exhibits.

VR KOLO demonstrates that Ukrainian museums can digitally recreate lost monuments and form a unifying space where shared cultural heritage comes to life and becomes accessible to all.
