WORKS ON THE ARRANGEMENT OF MEMORIAL AND RECREATION PLACES ON KHORTYTSIA ISLAND ARE IN PROGRESS

Near the Museum of the Zaporozhzhia Cossacks History is a park named after T. Shevchenko, founded in 1964 in honor of the poet’s 150th birth anniversary. In the same year, a complex of alleys was laid on the territory of the newly created park, 500 oak trees were planted, and a stele was established on the site of the future monument to the Great Kobzar.

After the decision to open the northeastern part of Khortytsia for visiting and renewing tourist activities, the Khortytsia National Reserve has been working on the arrangement of the territory, including the recreation area mentioned above. The reserve workers care for plantings and clear the alleys of emergency and dangerous trees. All these actions will allow visitors to enjoy Khortytsia Island comfortably and safely.

Furthermore, due to the high fire danger, fire escapes on the reserve territory are being cleared. Unfortunately, the reserve already suffers from fires in open areas, forest areas, and even floodplains this year. The presence of fire escapes ensures a faster and more efficient response to such calls and the timely extinguishing of ignition sources.

The Reserve continues to care for Khortytsia, which is native to every Ukrainian. WE CALL ON VISITORS TO BEHAVE RESPONSIBLY; REMEMBER THAT THE LIGHTING OF FIRES ON THE TERRITORY OF THE RESERVE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, AND A THROWN CIGARETTE CAN CAUSE A LARGE FOREST FIRE, which is devastating for the island’s nature in the dry season.
