Khortytsia unites!
On August 19, 2025, representatives from the Roziv settlement councils in the Zaporizhzhia region and Dymer settlement councils in the Kyiv region, along with the representatives from the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine and the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, gathered in Zaporizhzhia as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities”.
Specialists from the scientific and educational department gave informative tours to our guests, focusing on the history of Khortytsia Island and the Zaporozhzhia Cossacks.
The Zaporozhzhia Cossacks are a vivid example of self-government, cohesion, determination, and the effectiveness of community action in achieving a common goal. For the Zaporozhians, societal interests were more important than personal ones, and each Cossack felt responsible for and involved in the common cause of the Cossack Republic.
