The exhibition on occasion of the 230-th anniversary of the adopting The Constitution Polish- Lithuanian Commonwealth on May 3, 1791

The exhibition was created by The Museum of the history of  Poland and by the
Institute of history Lithuania with the support of the Poland institute in Kyiv on occasion of the 230-th anniversary of the adopting The Constitution Polish-
Lithuanian Commonwealth on May 3, 1791. The presentation of the exposition in Ukraine was patronized by the Vice-Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of
Poland Malgorzata Gosiewska. The opening of the exhibition in Zaporizhzhya is held with the assistance of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkov.
The exhibition starts with familiarization with the crisis of The Polish-
Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 17th century and the particularity of multinational people of the state. Organizers aspire to show the importance of this document for next generations by demonstrating reforms by Stanislav August, separation and revival of the Polish state. Also, a perception of The constitution May 3 will not only present in the consciousness of the folk of former The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, but also outside a country. The important element of the exhibition will become the portion which was devoted to the remembrance about The Constitution, its celebration of the first anniversary of its adopting in 1792, the situation in the 19th century, establishment of the national holiday in 1919, his erasure from the official calendars during dividing and The Polish People`s Republic, and then recovery in 1990.
The museum prepared the exhibition in cooperation with Lithuanian historians, that allowed to produce a fuller view on the common heritage of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, especially during the reforms and fighting for the salvation of the homeland. The worthy place in an exposition will be occupied either information about the commencement of works by four-year parliament in Lithuania, where May 3 was declared a national day in 2007.
Especially for the presentation of the exhibition in Ukraine, additional stands
were developed taking into account the Ukrainian aspects — the period of the
Russian-Turkish war, which was fought in the immediate vicinity of modern
Ukraine, the Uniate and Autocephalous Church in the context of the Four-
Year Sejm , the acceptance of government acts by The seimiks and the fight under the command of Jozef Poniatowski on southeastern front of the Polish-Russian war in 1792.
