ZAPORIZHZHIA PLAST ON KHORTYTSIA ISLAND

On March 9, 2025, on the occasion of the celebration of Kobzar’s birthday, the separate unit of the youth organization PLAST of the National Scout Organization in the Zaporizhzhia region “ZAPORIZKA OKRUGA” held an educational event on the island of Khortytsia – a race along the “Trail of Taras”.

Young scouts, together with their parents and organization leaders, visited the historical and cultural complex Zaporozhzhia Sich and walked along the excursion route, the “Trail of Taras,” which the young 29-year-old poet and artist Taras Shevchenko walked in the summer of 1843. During the excursion, a specialist from the Khortytsia National Reserve told interesting stories and facts about Taras Shevchenko’s stay in Zaporizhzhia and on Khortytsia Island and about Cossack Island and Cossack history in the poet’s works.
